Applying Gradients on Eyes
Introduction
In this tutorial, I'll show you how to apply gradients on eyes, and going from
this to
this .
Step 1: Working on the eyes
I open
this image of Kristen Bell taken from
Daydreaming.
Next I choose the Dodge Tool and set it on Highlights, on 24%.
I set my circle brush on 23 Pixels, and start going over Kristen's eyes. Now you don't want to over do it... So don't make it too bright.
this is what I got.
Quick Mask mode
Now, in order to apply gradients, I need to mark the eyes. So what I do is I choose "Enter Quick Mask".
It looks like this:

. After I choose it, I make sure I have the right brush settings...
Mine are:

.
I run the brush over the eyeballs, and this is what I Get:

.
Now, after I marked her eyes, I get out of the Quick Mask Mode by pressing on this button:

My image looks like this:

Now, because My all image is marked and not the eyes I go to Select>>Inverse.
My eyes are now marked.
Applying Gradients - Last part
I'm applying this gradient map:

from
Shadow of the Day and set it on Saturation.
I open a second Gradient map:

, and because the eyes are no longer marked, I do this:
I press the Control key, while pressing on the first gradient map with my mouse. After my eyes are marked again, I go to the second gradient map and then go again to Select>>Inverse, and then press delete. I set my gradient map on staruation again and that's it! You are finished.
You can use different gradients with different setting, and what have you.
